Theres so much information about all the Rover mini's except the JCG LE's. Maybe they're a bit geeky which is why I love them :proud:

To be honest I dont understand and cant find alot of details on how John Cooper had free rein to make them, did he buy the cars straight off the line and then modify them? Or was it an arrangement with Rover where they shared the cost and profit? I'm not on about the conversion kits, rather the cars they released themselves.

How many models did the JCG Garage make as LE's/SE's?

I know of (in no year order):-

S Touring
S Works
S Sport 5

These 3 as far as I know were made to order so final numbers that hit the road are fague to say the least

Then theres the:-

Grand Prix...35 made
John Cooper Le S Works...25 made (this was the John Cooper Le they decided to put a works conversion on and sell as a seperate Limited Edition)

Are there any others?

Its winter and I'm bored, any info or history on the John Cooper Garage's cars would be great.

If you are not a member of the Mini Cooper Register then I cannot believe why.
John Parnell wrote "Original Mini Cooper and Cooper S" the definitive guide to Mini Coopers which mainly covers pre 1971 Coopers.
He has recently become club registrar for Rover Mini Coopers and has thrown himself into the task with great enthusiasm. Every month in the club magazine "Cooper World" he is writing in great detail about Rover Coopers and should be including LEs. So far he has dealt with the Monte Carlo. In the next issue (January) he has said he will be writing about the Cooper 35 LE.
I still have a bit of reading to catch up on. I know the John Cooper injection engine kits were developed with Rover involvement.
I understand the late Cooper S variants were sold by John Cooper Garages having been finished by them. The S Works, S Works 5 speed, S Touring and S Touring 5 speed are all listed in the 1999 John Cooper catalogue each in either standard or Sports Pack version. That's 8 models in all. They must have been made to order from standard cars provided by Rover.

Chris Rees, in his book " Complete Classic Mini 1959-2000" lists:
Mini Cooper RSP 1990
Mini Cooper Monte-Carlo (Jan 1994) a Rover SE
Mini Cooper Monte-Carlo (Jul 1994) a Rover SE
Mini Cooper Grand prix (35 made, created by John Cooper)
Mini Cooper S (1995) (by John Cooper)
Mini Cooper 35 (1996) a Rover SE
Mini Cooper Sports (1998) 100 made (by John Cooper)
Mini Cooper S Touring (1999) (by John Cooper)
Mini Cooper S Sport 5 (1999) (by John Cooper)
Mini Cooper S Works (1999) 250 scheduled to be made
Mini John Cooper (1999) 300 made as a Rover SE (is this the one John Cooper made 25 S versions of?)

The Rover SEs had standard engines.

I should join the Mini Cooper Register, the 'Cooper World' mag sounds great.

''Mini John Cooper (1999) 300 made as a Rover SE (is this the one John Cooper made 25 S versions of?)''

Hard to find any facts about Paddy, but yeah hes a Mini John Cooper with the red leather interior and chrome dash, mounted on the glove box is a plaque giving his number out of 25 made. I have managed to track down an old mini mag with a great article and review on them, but thats about all I can find so far. Unfortunately the Grand Prix register seems to have fallen by the wayside and hasnt been updated since 2006

Thanks for the info dizzy, I'l keep searching and join the Register :proud:
