When I fitted the tank the one thing I forgot to check was.... if the fuel cap actually went on! Guess what it didn't! The neck was around 10mm to short so the cap was fouling on the rubber body grommet.
Soooo..... could have just taken it out and extended by 10mm but I've always wanted to fit the non return valve from the later saloon tanks. As I always hear about vans estate and pick ups with fuel coming out the tank on cornering and when parking on kerbs ect. Plus I had a Rotton late tank laying about.
Here's a few pics.
Said return valve removed and excess metal removed
A 10mm band/extention made. The holes in the side are for me to plug weld in to position when I'm happy with its location and orientation.
Tank neck cut off and the valve slides straight in.
All welded and painted. Would even know it's been cut open
Can see the valve fitted here.

Thanks guys !!! She's getting there last night finally got the brakes bled. After sorting leaks out as this flaring tool is utter crap !

Sounds like a proper mini, you fix one thing then something else breaks.
Glad she is getting there though mate
