how much do you pay for raw materials? id say 4 grand would be good, as you would be rivalling the heratage shells. if i had the choice id get a carbon one ;P

I would say around 5K then at least. It would still rival heritage shells, if I was spending 4K I wouldn't worry about spending another 1K and not having to worry about rust! If it accepts all the standard gear then 5K easily, maybe 6

interesting how people are comparing to heritage shells

you have to paint them, and they will still rust.....

I'd say a 35% mark up on material cost, due to the whole mouldings, labour ect... And the fact it takes standard fittings - that makes it worth a lot more. I'd happily pay 6/6500!

I know carbon is stronger than steel - but it has always seemed to have a little more 'give' in my opinion... Does the car not feel a bit flexy when hammering it through bends?

Love these - but the cost of painting a heritage shell will surely = the cost / kit needed for an Iva.

What would i be prepared to pay? - between 3.5 to 4 k realistically.

If it was much more than that, I'd buy a minus shell I think.

What sort of price would these be for sale, if you do put them into production? also, how thick is the CF?

EDIT- just realised that they come with boot, bonnet and doors (unlike a minus) and so I reckon I'd be prepared to pay a bit more, but I don't think I'd pay more that 4.5k

Shiny!

Is that a 'black metal' shell (lots of cloth laid up for an 'isotropic' laminate with through-bolts and spreaders for loadbearing) or do we have UD in there with structural foam/honeycomb and Ti inserts etc? Wet layup and vacuum bagged or vacuum infused/prepreg and autoclaved? Cure temp? (what proportion of that is fibre, what proportion is resin)

It looks like a solid iso layup, wet or vacuum infused, and vac bagged/low temp cured from the photos. Doesn't make best use of the material properties, but the kit looks nice and complete!

Metal rollhoop and metal frontends are a definitely a good idea; they soak up masses of energy and deformation in the event of a shunt. Thought about a shell that (structurally) finished at a rear bulkhead, with a purely cosmetic bum moulding? (could be part of the same layup, just lightly laid and lightly glued on) Take wherever the back of a front seat would finish/the main rollhoop would sit and build structurally to there. (composite safety cell) Use ironmongery to support both front and rear subframes:

Pop UD and structural foam around the door openings and where a rollhoop would usually go (basically lay a spaceframe into there) and you'd have a very interesting proposition.

All up weight as per estimates? If it's based on the design I'm thinking of, it's also lighter than a steel shell yeah?

Also, probably stiffer than a steel shell (again, if it's the design I'm thinking of).

Very, very interesting piece of kit.

£5k minimum, realistically though, I guess it's all about the market. I know if I had £5k to spend on a heritage shell, I'd rather go for a CF sprint instead.
