I've decided I'm going to be standing down in the new year. I'm leaving for a number of reasons.
I just dont find the forum any fun any more I spend all my time in the team areas and dealing with peoples problems and have no spare time to read and enjoy the forum which is why I'm here at all. I dont have the spare time I had when I worked 9-5 with no kids or family back when I started the forum and 2012 is only going to get busier. We have also just sold our house so will be moving in the new year which will take up even more time.
I've had a great 8/9 years heading up the forum and intend on becoming a normal member again and finding my roots with Minis, hopefully giving me enough drive to finish my own and maybe start going to shows again with the kids at some point. I'm still going to own the forum name but as of the running and direction of the forum thats going to be down to the restructured Admin team.
I'm standing down as of 1st Jan and have asked Matt (The Matt) and Sean (Shifty) if they would like to Join Adam (Deathrow), Bec and Alan (Minimadjonesy) to help drive the forum onto new highs.
Very much looking foward to reading up on projects and reading the for sale sections again. Might even get a project topic going on for my Mini Van I've been doing for the past 6 years lol.
Also while im here guys, a bit about the Forum rules:
2012 will see some changes to TMF's rules:
- We will be addressing the level of acceptable behaviour, as we are all old enough to either own, consider to own or even just appreciate these wonderful vehicles, we are all old enough to hear the odd swearword. Filtered swearwords are being reviewed, also the level of acceptable swearing will be reviewed. Obviously offensive words, or swearing that is intended to insult another member will still be considered unacceptable.
- The warn system is getting upgraded. Currently, the system adds warns one at a time until you reach three "warn points", then you will be permanently banned. In 2012, we will allow more warns before a ban (currently proposing 5 instead of 3), we will also set warnings to be automatically recinded one-by-one. If you have 3 months of normal posting with no trouble, your warns will be reduced automatically.
- We will be adding a detailed appeals procedure into the forum rules. If you feel that a warning (or any other disciplinary action) has been carried out unfairly, you will have the right to appeal and involve someone else in that appeal as a mediator.
- We will be reviewing staff levels and also suitability on a more regular basis, as well as reviewing any volunteers that wish to be a part of the team.
All the best guys,
Mark
