Hello Doc's.....

and nurses of course :cheese:

I have a running problem with my baby.

0 - 50mph she seems fine but hit 50/60mph then some times she will cough and splutter and some sort of power loss, Not stalling or anything she still trys :) . sounds like she has a cold with the coughing and splutering.

She seems fine round town and stuff but when I hit the A380, plenty of hills that make your ears pop, thats when she goes.

Advice needed please ASAP as I have to drive home.

Cheers
Tucker

Woody,

just to make the post back to the top of the page. :cheese:

Seems strange, only seems to happen on certain roads.

Fuel mix....hum not long had that set up, she was running rich, the guy did say that there was a bit of unburnt fuel going through. On idle you can here a pop, like she's missing a bit.

The pop has always been there on idle ever since I have had her, but been on the same roads before and not had a problem.

I was going along today on one of the trouble roads and I see a same plate mini in front but could not catch it up due to this prob. It done me and the wife said, THAT MINI'S ALL RIGHT. Hugh... I said that might have a bigger engine :) Could not see it any more and I was left behind, hit the M5 though and I caught up with it, with no running props at all, How do people cope with hill climbs??

It must just be a poorly Doris.

Cheers

Hi Tucker.

I was talking to a customer today about Minis in general and he was telling me about a very similar problem. The car ran fine until it got to a decent hill, then would cough and splutter with a significant power loss. Turned out to be a slightly leaking exhaust joint allowing hot gases to heat up the fuel pipe and cause fuel vapourisation. It only manifested itself on hills because of the extra load on the engine.

Cheers,

Nick

Hi People,

I went in to Tupman's on friday....not much cop, he just said it would be best to wack her on the rolling road and that you could change a number of parts and it still not make a differance :)

I dont think that would help as it only happens on the A380, OK on all the other roads. It happens down hill as well so the enging is not under load.

I lifted the bonnet on her and had a look for any zorst leaks, could not find any. I did notice some sort of fuel filter resting on the manifold tho, took that off of it and tucked it away and still no joy. :)

Help needed as big arse lorries are sitting up me arse and they cant tell Im slowing down.

Oh....that bloody mini done me again today. (some old bird)

Help please
Tucker

Sounds like a similar problem I had with my City. Would be ok and fine on motorways but any good change of incline used to make it shudder badly and slow down. I just replaced all the ignition leads, plugs, cap, rotor arm, points, condensor and coil. Then set the dwell angle and timing + fiddled with the mixture control and its running ok now, not perfect but only a rolling road will cure it completely.

Cheers papa,

Its had new pionts, dizzy cap, rota arm and condensor

Its doing it most of the time now, its sort of the same simptons it had when the feul pump was lose. run fine, then cough and spultter and cut out. Its doing that now but most of the time on any road.

It cut out on me today and had to pull on to the hard shoulder (twice), I checked the nuts and they was tight. do ya think it could be a faulty fuel pump?

cheers
