anyways boot hinge.. how bad what it to fit ? take it you clamped it on then fited the boot to see the hinge holes were right place ? im replacing the rear valance the now and the boot hinge panel has a few holes starting to come threw in two minds to replace it or fab a few patchs to replace the small holes

Hi steve,

my head new £650 complete !!

trimmed off the bottom off hinge panel just under the boot return ( to ensure
correct boot aperture), then trimmed down the repair panel and welded it to the corner
edge of the boot return (bit hard to explain) can draw a diagram if you want. l

Sorry for the delay Steve, hope you can understand my schetch.

1, cut off old hinge panel beneath the boot seal recess, I left the boot
seal recess complete to keep the shape of the boot opening.

2, cut off the boot recess from the new repair panel,

3, bolted the boot to the the new repair panel and then
located the boot onto the back of the car in correct
position,

4, clamped repair panel in position ensuring both edges
meet a good as possible,

5, tack well in position then remove the boot

6, fully weld using welds of around 30mm long every other
30mm (to reduce distortion)

Hi there,

Not been out in the garage lately as I have had some family buisiness ( Grandad been in hospital),
Also ran out of gas, Well i'm all sorted now, I've got some gas so i've been out tonight :w00t: ,
Done a bit more welding on the o/s rear seat pan, i've now painted all the Red oxide
primer in chassis black paint (looks better i think). Hope to crack on with it now, next job is to
replace the inner & outer sills, i may have to use 1/2 floor panels as they have been
really botched up in the past >;) , as I don't want a carpet in it, the floor has got to be pretty
good.

Want to get in on the road but don't want to rush it ;)

Cool project.

When i saw the first page i thought to myself ,why would you try restoring that lol it had soo much work to be done.

But i can see why now as you have done a fantastic job so far. Keep up the good work mate ;)

Look forward to next update :w00t:
