Replaced vacuum hoses on Mini SPi, car starts and idles good, works good on a flat surface.
However, loss of power on inclines, car barely makes it up small hill on any gear except in reverse.
Any suggestions? Timing maybe?

the engine was out of the car previous to it being bought.
when I received the car it drove home on limp mode.
on inspection the hoses were broken and not connected.

Is the temperature gauge working? Do the symptoms get worse when the car is cold or warm?

Yes the temperature gauge is working amd the engine temperature is fine.
When warm the car drives the same. Together with the lack of power, it repeatedly shuts off and needs restarting.
Would the position of the dizzy be an issue? The engine was out of the car before I bought it.
I'm thinking it was put back in the wrong position.
