Hi, I'm looking at ordering a twin box rc40 but can't decide on centre or side exit. Are there ground clearance issues with the centre exit?

Currently running 12's with stock suspension.

thanks mow

I have just fitted a centre maniflow with 12" wheels, no clearance issues so far, just go steady on speed bumps and rough ground and you will be fine.

I don't think that there would be any real ground clearance difference between the two. Due to the rear suspension generally sitting higher than the front, in my experience all the exhaust ground clearance issues tend to happen nearer the front of the car. Particularly if you can't align the damn thing to tuck away into the floor tunnel properly and even more so if you've got a later model with a CAT fitted.

I also seem to remember reading that in tests, the side exit item gave slightly better performance than the centre exit version. Also bare in mind that if you currently have a side exit system, you will probably need to drill the rear subframe in order to fit a centre exit version.

Mine already has the holes at the back of the subframe.

Do what I did, twisted the first bracket on its side and tightened it, keeps the longest part with the threads from getting ripped off on the ground.

Do you mean the U bolt clamp, that joins the LCB to the down pipe? (as below)

Yeah! Couldn't think of the name :shy: Just the first one which attaches to the manifold. Still very tight, or I wouldn't have done it, but it means on its side it won't have as much chance to drag on the floor.

Yeah that's not a bad idea  ... It's a fairly obvious thing to do when you think about it too... >_<

It is, after that they are all straight but then the exhaust gets higher into the body.

Thanks for that, sounds like careful fitting is the key either way.
