Right, tried to start my clubman today, first with the weber, which was a complete failure and resulted in my block being covered in fuel since the inlet was leaking.

Anyway off it went and on went an old HS4 that was probly knackered but would still get fuel to the engine (car should at least show some signs of life).

Anyway after some cranking nothing, the car doesnt want to fire up.

Ignition leads all appear to be correct, but ill check that tomorrow (i know at least two of them are correct and i have started cars on 2 cylinders so..)

Spark plugs might be not VERY tight in the head, but nothing leaks out of their so i doubt that's it.

Battery is freshly charged, turns over nicely.

One thing that i noticed at the end was that there was hardly any fuel travelling from the pump to the carb, BIG air bubbles (i have a clear fuel hose).

So I got to thinking... could it be what I think it is? (car has no fuel!) :)

Any other explicable cause for having bubbles of air in the fuel line?

(P.S. What is a 'default' setting for the jet on a HS4, since mine is way off (started playing round with the adjusting nut :)))

Could be low fuel of an air leak on the pipe.

The default setting, remove the dashpot and screw the jet in/up till its level then unscrew it 1 1/2 turns.

Siggy

PS whats the weather like over there, got some friends going over in a couple of weeks time

Pretty bloody perfect right now. Nice and warm in the day, cools down quite a bit at night (bearable with t-shirt and shorts).

Not plasma-hot though (round 32 i think)

Air leak in pipe? Hmm... not something i thought of... hope it isnt since i have no idea where to get another from other than this scrappy who tends to charge me more than a new item costs :)
