both gauge and light, plus the hydraulic tappets start to get noisy.
oil was changed 70-100 miles ago after the old ECU packed up and filled the engine with petrol.

hoping its the pressure valve, as that should be an easy fix

ahh, we have hydraulic tappets and have heard that oil too thin, or too thick can make them noisey, but if its just the odd time i does sound like its something sticking as opposed to stuck.

had a look at sorting out my oil pressure problem today so i can take it to MITP on sunday.
i was thinking problem was due to oil pickup being clogged up.
spent a few hours getting the gearbox end plate off to get to it. just needed that little bit extra clearance to get it off, but couldn't find it. eventually it was off and there was a reasonable amount of C**p around the pickup pipe that would have been enough to restrict oil flow and pressure.
i used quite a fine gauze over the pick up, so replaced it with some out of a gearbox i got with the clubby estate. have got this in place, just need to put the reat together tomorrow, and give it a run to see if its a fix.

if alls well it will be the first time its been driven to a show

well it still looks basic and unsuspecting, so should still get some odd looks.
if it gets there we will be on the "Minis On The Run" stand.

wondering how many people will ask if its going up the strip (not, because the clutch still slips)
and how many ask what gearbox i've used

lol, Do you ever feel like telling them something completely random (like it was from a tractor)? or something like its a custom one?

I dont want to test my driveshafts up the strip, although they have been ok since.
Also with a stock engine i dont think id be up to much especially with my huge flywheel :D

Mine should be on the 16vMiniClub stand (along with my brothers)

sorted out the oil pressure problem ready for MITP
my mini got there ok, was just hot and noisy. coming home started to get a bit of noise on the N/S rear, so i think the rear wheel bearing / hub is knackered.
plus i've got an intermittent noisy tappet. mostly its ok then it will start tapping for no reason and the stop, some times on it own, or sometimes it needs a bit of revving to get oil pressure right up to cure it. so i assume i've got a doggy hydraulic lifter.

Ed, i didn't come across the 16v mini stand, did mean to find it, i'm after some ideas for the clubby estate (dont tell the wife) thinking vtec maybe if the V8 goes one day

lol, mine was fine all the way down, but on the way back i almost span out on a round about from crappy rear tires, (front was fine and stuck well) then the rain also caused my water pump pulley to slip so the engine over heated :ermm: as well as not being able to see due to my steam room :- but once i managed to tighten the alternator it was fine, but was a bit nervous about the rear tires in the wet :D
Didnt manage to get around all the club stands, spent a while talking to people at the 16v one (quite a bit of interest!!).

Glad to hear it went ok and that the oil problem seems to be fixed ;D How did you cope with the mud? was it much problem?
