Looks fantastic mate, really well done. Just curious as everyone here seems pretty on the ball with the finer points of audio engineering. Is there a maximum size of a solid grille I can put on a sub that won't hinder the quality? I notice you use mesh but I am hoping to have a piece of cut stainless steel in the shape of a logo and mount across the sub as a grille. Sorry for high jacking the thread a tad. Shame there aren't many good sound off's here in Oz.

You should have at least 50% open really, the more the better.

Decided i dont like the tweeter mounts or the bars across them

so went from this

to this

mZwYLLE.jpg

i think it looks so much cleaner. Now just need to make some new mounts for them.

Maaan you need to re-size your images, there huge and take an age to load! Back on topic, the grills look nice! Are they within the rules tho for compeating being so small?

sorry meant covering 30% of the sub, approx 20mm across the center tapering into a 40mm point.

They cover the cone/moving parts so yes.

Not all comps even request grills.

Update time, never did really like my tweeter pods as i thought they were a little large, so made a new set and trimmed them in black this time to match the door cards.

So went from this

mZwYLLE.jpg

also painted the covers

to this

7ideFmd.jpg

also painted the front covers satin black as well to help blend in a little more with the rest of the interior. While doing this i also retrimmed the mid bass pods in the door in black to match as well.

So now my front end has gone from this

1qHMra0.jpg

to this

awvt3SY.jpg

Makes the front look a lot neater i think

Thanks but it's not as hard to do as you think. The sub bins in the back are my first(and hopefully last) attempt at fiber glass, which i think turned out really well.

Plus on here you have plenty of people to give you the correct advice and help if you need it.

Well it's update time again. After looking at the set up, i decided(as you do) i did not like the front end grilles, so i have changed them again.

So now my front end has gone from this

awvt3SY.jpg

to this

csg6PGB.jpg

and my boot has gone from this

xakzDsG.jpg

to this

KneyUtp.jpg

all back lit blue, with 2 fans on a thermal switch to keep the amps cool.

Now this is finished(i realy do hope so this time), it sounds absolutely fantastic, so now i hope to enjoy the system, enter a few sound off competitions and see what happens.

Update time

so i did not like the boot so i ripped it all out

which left this

yDtHuFY.jpg

stripped the boards i did not like the way they fitted and cut new ones, the black ones i'm keeping

quite a lot of boards for a mini boot

Ka7IhTd.jpg

as the space is a little tight in there i used a router to take a little of the board away where the Oswg wires go

 1awNH7H.jpg

then had a test fit

uZScZky.jpg

4iuEedR.jpg

aGJKsKH.jpg

The whole boot install, as well as all the speakers have been fitted with these little stainless steel fixings

BuJhk2P.jpg

Now i've stripped it all out again to trim it up
