im just in the process of building a r1 turbo front engined mini , im getting my kit from knightmotorsportengineering.co.uk u get a complete custom made front subframe , ive bin in his own car and i must say its breathtaking. ive built a sylva riot with a busa in it, and i must say waynes mini will eat it alive, it has to go in a clubman frontend , to get the correct length of chain, if chains are to short they last no time at all , im after front brakes and a good cage if any one has anything for sale?

This looks good!

Will it definately not fit in a roundnose? If not thats a shame, i would be very interested if it did.

OOH yay another R1 Mini, and a turbo! I am looking into an engine conversion in a few years time when insurance isnt so much an issue, and R1 looks like a good option, I mean you cant really beat 10k+ revs really, will be watching this thread eagerly!

What sort of power are you looking from a turbo R1 by the way?

Pretty cool. I'd like to see some more info on the kit. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a pro-mo but would be interested in this one before I do

Hmm, gonna follow this build for sure, I hope you will keep us updated! Wayne's mini is also spaceframed I believe, why don't you let him weld you a nice fitting rollcage?
I'm driving his first build, the spaceframed hayabusa turbo RWD, it's really well made I can tell you...

im hoping for arouind 250 bhp, it will not fit under a round nose as it makes the chain to short , and reduces chain life massively, but its well worth giving wayne a ring,, im not sure about cage yet, but ive got a carbon roof, and curley fiberglass doors hoping to keep it under 500 kgs

Why would a short chain reduce chain life? I run a 630 chain which can't be any shorter without the gears touching each other. Chain is not showing exessive wear!
This week I saw à cool project in new sealand, à starlet with hayabusa fitted in length and à driveshaft bolted directly onto the busa block without à chain!

Smaller gears with the same ratio would increase the wear. I can't see why chain length would affect it.

Also i think it would put a lot of people off buying with it not fitting in a roundnose. Its definately put me of!
