Hi all
I need to remove my output shafts, so I can replace the diff oil seals and replace one of the output shafts as it has a chuck missing from it.
My question is how do you remove them? From looking at the minispares website it looks like there is a circlip that holds them in place, but how do you get access to it
Many thanks
Kevin

Circlip? If you take all the hub off then the driveshaft sliding joint can be pulled out of the Hardy Spicer, subject to slackening the boot clamp. The Hardy Spicer comes away from the diff driving flange after undoing the four nuts/bolts. The driving flange comes away from the splined diff output shaft after undoing a large bolt holding it to the shaft. Behind this bolt is an oil seal which stops oil leaking past the splines. The drive flange cover then comes away from the diff housing after undoing the five or six screws. There is a gasket behind the flange cover whose thickness, along with shims which might drop out here, determines the bearing pre-load. To remove the output shaft, you have to take the diff unit off and take it apart. ie pull off the bearings and remove the crownwheel.
But perhaps it is different with a lsd.

Ok so I removed the output shaft, by removing the side plates.
I then removed the circlip replaced the oil seal fitted the new output shaft, went to re-fit it ...... and it did not fit, the shaft I have bought has different splines to the old one.
old one l/h side new one r/h side
Old one
New one
The output shaft was bought from minispares, there was only one option, any ideas where I can get the correct one from.
Please help
Thanks

Hi, I know your post was a long time ago, but did you get sorted? I use fine output shafts like your picture shows and need another one plus the diff they fit in. James 07831 585211
