I have a 1995 Mini Cooper SPI.

The wipers on my Mini have never parked since i got the car 2 years ago, always have to manually stop them. However, it seems my wipers have given up on me completely now.

The windscreen washers still work, but the wipers don't move at all.

Anyone got any ideas why?

Checked the fuse, also the windscreen washers are working which is on the same fuse.

I have the same problem, the wipers work perfectly but I have to park them myself, gets a bit of a pain

The only problem i ever have is my flasher full beam and horn not working i think its just a bit of a dodgey fuse though

Knowing you it's the wrong fuse in there....

Anyway back on topic! Best bet I thought it'd be the wiper motor away because surely that's what has the auto park built into it?

My wipers wouldnt park (1978), I opened up the wiper motor and cleaned the switch inside that does the parking and it started to work properly again. (well it did the second time i put it back together).
You gould also try disconnecting the wiper mechanism from the motor and then checking to see if the motor operates. I've had the wiper mechanism dry up and go really stiff and jammed up.

@ lukeb854, I had the main beam flasher and indicators stop working on mine and found dirty contacts when I stripped the steering column switches. Cleaned them up and it worked fine. It's fiddly though!
I think I've been through most of my switches now and cleaned them up to keep them going. I like to think of it as a good thing, rather than being too tight to spend money!

I suspect its the terminals on the Wiper motor. I just removed the connector to the wiper motor and all the terminals are completely rusted up. Now the fun of trying to remove the motor begins, the screws securing the strap are completely corroded.

When you get it cleaned up and working, if they still don't park you should replace the parking switch on the motor, as they often fail completely. The nylon plunger usually wears away, but they can fail internally too. Last time I needed one they were not expensive.

There should be a plastic cover over the motor, on some models at least, presumably to protect it from water. You should ideally fit one of those, if you don't already have one. They just push fit over the motor.

removing the motor is the biggest problem at the moment, the screws on the strap are so rusted its impossible. Anybody got any tips for removing the motor and rusted screws?

Drill the top screw out, then you can twist the bracket over the motor and remove the other screw later

plus gas if screw is seized up, you can get it brush on or spray on. Or WD40 or similar. Maybe heat it up. Failing that drill it.

If it's spinning, put something underneath to sort of lever the screw out while unscrewing it.
