So I am not entirely sure that this will be going in the right place or not, but hey :shades:

Here is the story so far:
I bought my Mini back in January of this year,
I went all the way over to Surrey to view it and kind of fell for it straight away.
It was a completely standard 1992 City, with only 62000 miles on the clock, complete with added lightness in the form of rust holes in the rear arches :P (although I am not certain whether the alloys are standard or not - maybe somone can enlighten me on it >_< ) on the drive back on the day, i didn't realise that the fanbelt was a bit loose and so when my dad (who I was following back) pullled in at Marlborough to check as to why my headlights were so dim, he wouldn't start again, which in a way, was a good thing, as I then had to call the AA out on the first day of membership (they probably werent best pleased about that :teehee: ) and they tightened that up for me :D This is also where the name came from, I had my girlfriend, Bryony with me, and when the lights were refusing to flash, she decided that the name had to be "Flash - because he wouldn't"

Since the eventful drive home, I have managed to do several things, I have replaced the front trumpets with Hi-Lo's, I had to go out to my friends - Sven (J322OverTheTop) - at which point he agreed to kindly weld up me rear arches. :D I then got a puncture which led to getting two new Yokos on the front. I have also made a couple of small changed to the interior, I got hold of a red gear knob and gaitor, along with some decent 3 clocks. I decided that buying a 3 clock dashboard was too expensive and so decided to make my own one, with my own hands, which hasnt gone too bad (or at least I think so anyway :P ) and I also got a steering wheel which may not be in the best condition, but i still quite like the look of it :shades:

Anyway, it is currently in a garage, as some silly lass decided that it might be a good idea to go into the back of me at a set of lights. luckily, there isn't too much damage, although it does mean that I have to have the rear panel replaced, along with the bootlid and bumper, and rear offside light unit along with possibly the rear valance. I also have to get a V.I.C done along with a fresh M.O.T on it before I will be insured to drive it again.

Anyhow, i'm sure that will probably be boring you all already, so, the plans :D

Engine:
I have already got hold of all of the required parts for a Stage One Kit : Twin box Rc-40 and link pipe, LCB exhaust manifold and Y-piece, minispares inlet manifold, Pipercross Airfilter, AAU Carb Needle and of course, the manifold gasket. So I will be fitting that once I get Flash Back! and then I will get it rolling roaded, to make sure i am getting the most out it! :D
Then when i have some more money after the repairs, I'm not entierly sure where to go next, although I am sure that I would quite like to put a slightly longer diff on it, (3.1 I think) - not entirely sure whether that can just be changed at will or not though... :shy: and I am also sure that I want to keep it naturally/normally aspirated, just because prefer engines like that :shifty:

Bodywork/Exterior:
I think with this, i quite like the standard look, although some offset/wider wheels would be nice along with some wider arches I think.
I'm still undecided as to whether i should go for 10'' wheels and tyres, as I have seen some on him and they do look good... which is just making the decision harder still!
but apart from that and maybe changing the colour of the car, i think I will keep it nice and standard.

Interior:
This may see a lot of changes. as above I have already gotten different steering wheel and gear knob and gaitor. along with the homemade dashboard. i am still curently undecided about the colour scheme to go for on this one as he is currently silver with a black roof and stripes on the bonnet, so I may go for a blue and greyish interior colours as it would fit in, or i might go for something completely different, i don't know yet >_<
The radio that come in the car, is incredibly old (still has a tape player), had some very confusing wiring (wires changing colour several times on the way) along with what i believe to be the ground wire gone completely. It was also fused in using the blade for the rev counter, so I have got a replacement (and more modern) head unit on the way along with a set of four speakers, 2 6X9's and 2 4" speakers so hopefully that will work well in the Mini but all the wiring will all have to be redone again, which could go okay, or may go catastrophically badly ;D

I know this is a long first post, but thank you for those of you that have stuck with it all the way through

I will add pictures of all of, well everything soon, once I work out how to use the whole photobucket thingy..? it'll happen as soon as I can make it :proud:

Hope the damage all gets sorted out soon, bet you can't wait to get back behind the wheel :mrcool:

Also, I'd say... GET IT ON 10's!

Haha thanks, unfortunately it is all on hold until it is fixed, apart from just improving the dashboard design... :P
just gotten hold of a ciggy lighter to put in (not for smoking, of course, it's for the phones and such) :thumbs up:
so that'll be going in, and I am currently toying with the idea of putting the new stereo into a center console (would have to made first of course) :P

yeah me too, work starts tursday at the latest, and it turns out that mak thinks that the noise is the cv joint  so that'll have to be done for the MOT :(
but yeah can't wait! :D

I would love to, and maybe when I have got the money, I will be able to, but for now, I will have to stick to the 12's because there is no way i can afford the conversion kit along with doing the repairs :(
but one day... one day I will :mrcool:

Quick update,
I got a picture of how he looked last Thursday, hopefully this'll work (currently on my phone :P )

Since then, I have been up to see him briefly and the work is coming on well, last I saw, the new rear panel was in place ready to he welded on :-)
Then it's just the dreaded MOT and VIC then he'll be back! :D
Can't wait!

Soo,
Went to see Mak again today, and there has been some good progress again :shades:
Posted Image
Now there is just a little bit of welding left to do, put it back together, and then get it painted to match the rest of him,
which could take some time as he has a wonderful clubman estate to finish before he can even start on mine >_<
but it is a beautiful clubby estate...
in theory it should be going for the V.I.C in roughly a fortnight,
then I can get back on the road! ^_^

A very quick update,
Gave Mak a ring this morning,
he says that my mini will be ready to go for the Vic by Wednesday/Thursday next week!
Yay! :D
going up tomorrow to have a look/take another picture of it then

Great to hear it's still on schedule! Can't wait to see it finished with a rust and dent free rear end :D

I know, although I just want him back now, fed up of busses again already :-(
Yeah it will be a really decent back end and will certainly stand the test of time :-P
However, he has had to patch the sills to (fingers crossed) what'll be mot worthyness but they'll need doing within the next couple of years,
But apart from that the car is apparently solid :-D and he thinks I was right about the clicking on the front end :-P

Went up on Saturday too have another quick look at progress,
and this is the result! :proud:

supposedly the MOT will be done by tomorrow,
I know the ball joints needed replacing,
and the backplate on the R/D/S was apparently boned so that needed replacing before adjustments could be done to it,
but apart from that, fingers crossed it doesn't cost too much more... :geek:

Haha, yeah it is very nice to see some fresh paint on him!
although it has now lost the double stripe from the door backwards >_<
I quite like the Pepperpots too, don't see them on many (or at least I haven't seen many O_O ) and they came with the car

I have a set of pepperpots in the garage in case I ever fancy a change on the mini. Like you say, don't see many around with them.

New carriage lines are easy enough to get and fit =]

Oh right! fair enough, I should really get mine back into good shape soon >_<
They may have been one of the sub-conscious factors that made me pick him in the first place :teehee:
Excellent news! I will have a look for them then and get them on when I can :proud:

The MOT happened today, at 1.
the result: A Pass! :proud:
only advisories were very slight play in f/n/s wheel bearing and the f/o/s lower ball joint.
had to have both upper ball joints and r/o/s backplate replaced before hand, but Mak was excellent and in total, it cost £125 :D
Also nabbed some pictures of him as he is finally ready for the V.I.C now. and it is quite a transformation!

Personally I am quite please,
it is much more solid now in the boot,
it has a fresh MOT which has sorted a few things that otherwise would have probably caused problems quite soon
and has given me peace of mind

:proud:
