The pics are not the clearest in the world, and I'm not the most practically experienced person but I'll throw in my 2p.
If the oil seems to be leaking from the gearchange mechanism it'll be the seal where it enters the box. Most minispares places do the kit for about a fiver as its a very common problem.
If its leaking from behind the inner CV joint where it enters the differential housing that is most likely the diff output seal which is rather more of a pain to change.

The pics are C**p, but it looks like its the gear change oil seal.
You can buy a modifed kit from Minispares that cures the problem.
Or you can go to Andrew Pages (Methley road) and buy a new atd seal. then without removing the old one fit a second seal.
Siggy

Methley road is where the Peugeot garage is. Driving from the bus station turn right at the roundabout (Focus) then after the road turns left the Pug garage is on the right and Pages is the second (I think) on the left.
Remone the roll pin that fastens the linkage onto the gearbox. Then just tap the new one on and that will push the old one further in.

If you are going to do it you may aswel do it properly, the hardest part on fixing the gear linkage leak is removing the pin!! took me ages to find an implement that was the exact size to knock the pin out!! Then just kept on digging at the old seal with a small screwdriver, and it slowly came out, pushed the new one in, gave it a little tap, put gear link back in, hammered pin in and bobs ya uncle!!
It really isn't a very hard job, all you need is a jack, axel stands, or some ramps, hammer, a large nail to get pin out!!! and a screwdriver. thats if it is the gear link seal gone.
Oh, and turn the makro on, on your camera, you get some much better close ups!!

ah, always wondered what that setting was too. Learning alot 2nite. I will get ramps n have another look, breeze blocks behind wheels so i can feel safe under it.
Cant harm changing it if it isnt. I just wanted to sort it, so when i change oil and filter, it wont goto waste by ending up on my garage floor.

Thats the way i felt about putting a new oil filter, and oil in it, i wasn't happy if it was going to go all over the floor!!
But if you do decide to do it yourself, i am sure me, or siggy can give you a more-in depth instructions on how to do it. It is one of the re-occuring jobs that will need doing every few years, so once you know how to do it, it is simple!!
The new seal can be bought from a car spares place, only a couple of quid and they usually have it in stock.
And yea, makro is a well handy little option!!! can get some very high quality close up pics if the lighting is right!!

will get some new batts for cam and see what i can get tomoz.
The car is 24yrs old and is all pretty standard, so i dunno if its either been changed lol. The curvey bit on bk of carb (with round screws) is stuck solid, so i cant fit me K&N filter, but might leave it anyway till i can get a proper RR session when its worth while (after fitting stg 1 kit for example).
I'll try get pics, dunno what i'm looking for like. can u tell me where i shud take the photo from (angle wise) so u can check if its 1 or other.
Airedale auto's can order the part in same day if needed, so thats decent enough.
