Recently I've heard that some classic insurance companies are rejecting young drivers!

Has anyone got any ideas on this ?

Any good companies or modifications that you shouldn't do if your after a low quote ?

Thanks :)

Been like this for a while I'm afraid.

Lots wont take drivers under 25.

Any mods if you're young will hit you hard as they need very little excuse to up your premium. Avoid roll cages for one if you are very young and bigger engines.

Herts and Adrian Flux are usually ok but I am unaware of the age restrictions with these companies

yes to be insured on a classic car by a classic insurance company you have to be over 21. thats why insurance for 17+ year olds is sky high.

if your looking for a cheap quote then try LVE thats where i have got mine. i have a 1275 GT im fully comp and im the only drive and im paying £1200. But i have been driving for a year now, but on my old 850 i was a named driver third party fire and theft and i was paying £2200 (i was insured with Swinton then)

Best bet is to call around and not use price comparison sites :D

I was 19 when I got insurance with Footman James, but it does seem to depend on who you talk to on the day with them. Most won't take on people under 21 or under 25 depending on company, always worth trying them though just to make sure.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you...
Nobody will insure me, I'm getting average quotes of around £5500. I've tried everybody, and I mean everybody. Adrian flux did £2800 TPFT, but I want fully comp for my pride and joy.
The problem is, that people give advice on who they were insured with maybe one or two years ago, and prices have dramatically increased for us 17 year olds in the last year. So I'm afraid we're on our own when it comes to looking for insurance.

I'm 19 and Footman James wouldn't insure me, So i ended up going with Aviva through A-plan. It cost me £1600 including mods. If i went direct to Aviva it would of cost me £1300. Everything else seemed to be ridiculously high. I've got no claims bonus either

Footman James's underwriters have pulled out from insuring high risk drivers... which is currently under 21's AFAIK.

Try Graham Sykes :) - you need to get on the road mate for when mine comes off the road LOL!.

I'm 22 and have never had a problem getting an insurance policy and I've rung a lot of companies.

I've got policies for the 998cc mini and a 1.9l turbo Saab and no one's rejected me...

i found it >_< '87.

a lot of companies wont insure that cheap either if your care is pre '80 because they have to register it as a classic or something.

they can put you on an ordinary system of the car is after '80.... which seems stupid.

(i was told this my Aloc? aka the guy i was put through to for my insurance) ;D
