Zcars Bosch Fuel Pump

does anyone know how the system works? obviously the busa does not have a return pipe from the fuel rail, as there is only one pipe going to the fuel rail. if the bosch fuel pump is used does it not over pressurise if the engine is not running?

tank outlet ------ pre filter------ bosch high pressure pump---- regulator----- fuel rail. is this how it goes?


the standard hayabusa fuel pump i bought from zcars is faulty by the looks of things, i should have put the £50 to the bosch set up instead of buying an old pump, hey ho that's the way it goes.

any help appreciated.

Ed, this is one way of doing with with a return, therefore bleeding off the excess pressure:

is the regulator in the correct place? i would have thought it would have went between the high pressure filter and the fuel rail? i assume that the setup will need a t piece to allow the pump to continue working otherwise it could knacker the pump?

Great drawing, your a dab handy on the old autocad :-)

Ed, consider the FPR to relieve the excess pressure, the FPR is normally connected via a vacuum pipe to the manifold (on EFI engines), when the engine is revving up the FPR closes enough to keep constant pressure (to whatever the FPR is set to) at the rail, when you lift off the FPR then opens enough to bleed the excess pressure back to the tank and so the circle of life begins once again........

The other way to do it without a tee is flow the fuel across the fuel rail -> from the pump n filters then in one side of the fuel rail out the other to the FPR......


Cheers on the cad thing, I sit using it every day for work and car stuff is way more interesting to me than the ships I have to draw.......

the problem with the busa fuel rail is that there is only one feed pipe goes into it and no return pipe. i have ordered an inline bosch fuel pump. i can only imagine that there must be a tee piece somewhere to relieve the pressure when the engine is idling or not running with the ignition turned on. i will need to make sure that the fuel lines and pump will do the job, the last thing i want to do is bugger the new fuel pump due to it over pressuring.

i have autocad in my laptop, but it takes me less time to draw it. i had done an introduction to autocad a few years back and enjoyed using it. i must keep using it

As cptkirk says really, if you follow the diagram the regulator fill sort out pressure balance. Autocad is ok for line drawings, but Really you should update to solidworks. ;-)

Agh, I get it now guys, I always think that the regulator goes between the pump and the fuel rail. I now see the thinking behind the sketch , many thanks guys. Any recommendations on a good regulator.

Ed, do you know what pressure you need? I have a Weber Alpha FPR, it was recommended by my tuner who knows his stuff and they actually do keeps the pressure at the set amount (I have a fuel pressure gauge on my dash), you can get them in various pressure settings and can get them here:

cant seem to find what fuel pressure my busa engine should be. i might find it in the owners manual?

your a star, i was just looking through the workshop manual. that pressure reg u showed me look like it will be just the job i wonder if this would do the same job

a photo would be great :-) the anglia is nearly ready for painting at last, then once the inside is painted i can get building the car back together again. its been a hard slog tp this point but should be worth it in the end hopefully. do you have my email address?
