bonjourno...

my mate has blown up the thou in his pickup, so i twisted his arm into letting me do an engine conversion on it, and i just send him the bill for parts and such...

this is what we have to play with.

its a little rough round the edges and is a work in progress kind of jobby... but hey, its solid and thats what counts.

day one.
Posted Image
we have a nissan cg13 out of a k11 micra SR, only done 22k

made a basic frame and it came out well... just some modding to lower the sump side of the engine.
Posted Image

day two.
after modding the lower rails to sink the engine a tad, it fits purfectly... forgive the shabbyness of some bits. ill be dress and seam welding the whole thing before painting.
Posted Image

diff clearance at the back
Posted Image

front end clearance. retains standard mounting points, and theres plenty of space for some fat downpipes:D
Posted Image

level subframe
Posted Image

level engine at the same time, chuffed.
Posted Image

drive shafts line up properly.
Posted Image

and finally some loud bits.
Posted Image

more progress very soon... been shopping on ebay for some bits to make this thing move...

Chris

make a solid bracket for the back and made a simple l bracket. could have made a bracket to fit the standard floor, but just drilled a new hole on the centre... works a treat!

where you putting your alternator? if it's going where bigchief's is you might consider moving your brake bias valve

ive still been pottering about with this, honest!

two faffs that are still holding me back, are the driveshafts coming back from the tig welders... they are taking a while. and the waterpump belt tensioner. but oh well...

ive ditched the lumpy brake bias thing in favour of an adjustable jobby which is mounted between the seats inside. this does now mean that all the brake lines are inside which is what i wanted anyway! ive also had to notch the bulkhead 20mm or so to stop the carbs slapping against it under on off throttle moments...

heres a bit of a dated pic now, but ill get some updated ones during the week when i can get down the garage.

Excellent more inspiration here :D
Just out of curiosity:
What did you do to your manifold, did you just grind out the cat and weld a pipe in or?

Also, can anyone recommend me the best steel plate and box section thickness and dimensions please as i am going to begin mine when i get back from the USA

Thanks any help appreciated
