There's not much you can do, measure resistances

pinched off another forum:

1. is the voltage + at the coil greater than 11.7 volts? if so go to test 2.

2. Is the voltage at the coil within 1 volt of the battery? if so go to test 3.

3. Is the resistance between the ignition coil + and - terminals between 0.4 and 0.9 ohms? if so go to test 4. if not change coil

4. Is the resistance between the coil + and the ht terminal 5 and 15k ohms? if so proceed to test 5. if not change coil

5. Connect a small 12volt bulb (like a panel or side light bulb) across the + and - terminals on the coil, carnk the engine over and see if the bulb flashes. If it does proceed to 6. if not proceed to test 7.

6. Is the resistance of any of the ht leads greater than 20k ohms? if so then renew the lead. Also while testing the lead move it about and see if the resistance jumps up and down (it may move a little bit but it shouldn't be a lot).

7. remove the module and check the resitance of the pickup coil it should be between 950 and 1150 ohms.

A Lucas agent should be able to test the module for you.
