Air Filter Screws

Air fiter screws are either snapped off or stuck fast and wont undo...are they loctited in?...anyone have a similar problem and the best way to remove please....

I'm guessing that you have an injection Mini (as carbed Mini's had wing-nuts on their airboxes)?

I wouldn't have said there was any reason to Loctite the screws, they're only holding the airbox onto the throttle body!

Could you drill the heads off the stuck ones, remove the airbox and then use some mole grips to undo the remaining threads?

Thanks for the reply...apparently they are loctited in....just dont want to snap them off..

They are encapsulated screws yes but it's only a basic vibration resistance, it's a service item so they aren't permanently locked. Maybe a previous owner has seen the compound on the threads when changing the filter and decided it needed fresh thread lock.

The former owner was a bodger so I guess he has....they are stuck fast and one has twisted and snapped...any ideas anyone...tried the two bolt method but to no avail...I only have one screw holder the filter box on and im off to L2B on Sat and could do with sorting it out...so any suggestions would be greatly recieved...
