No problem during normal driving, but when I race my '68 Cooper, fuel will dribble onto the track. Not a popular thing. I find fuel on the bodywork below the filler cap, so I assume the cap may not be sealing well.
I have replaced the cap with new, but same problem. The sealing surface on the filler neck appears OK.
Anyone else had similar problem?
Looking for a fix as I cannot race until it's fixed.
Thanks for advice.

When I brim my tank, I often get out of the car when I get home and smell petrol, when I corner a roundabout it just splashes into the cap and then because the cap is a loose fit it runs down the body.

Hey mate,
Try the last comment in this thread.. http://www.theminifo...ol-cap-leaking/
If you can get a hold of the material then you are good to go :)

I was going to mention what I did... but the link above is for a previous post of mine. Since that old post is from 2008, I will only add that the multi-layered seal I made from sheet rubber and Teflon is still working great almost 10 years later.

This fix sounds excellent. Found a local supplier of all sorts of gasket materials. They're nice enough to cut off a small piece of both the Buna-N and the teflon and give to me as free samples. Picking them up tonight.
Thanks much! I'll be back on the track this summer!
