hey guys, a little undecided on what to do! I have just brought a 998cc rover neon and not 100% sure if I should change the engine to a 1275cc. The end result is to race her. Is it easer to get used to racing the 998 and then upgrade when I know what I am doing? Is it easy to get into racing in the first place?

many thanks marty

what form and class of motor sport do you hope to race in ?

the engine size and mods are likely to be restricted in most classes

Based on the 'not having a clue' - I would look up 'auto testing' - which should be good you of you havnt done anything before. It's usually cheap and can take place on grass as well as Tarmac - you have to have a passenger and you have to drive around a course (usually set out with cones) as fast as you can.
Auto Test is designed for any car really lol - so just go with a 998.

Your car in it's current form looks pretty much ok for hillclimbing and sprinting, just a few stickers and a beam splitter required.

see www.hillclimbandsprint.co.uk There is a beginners guide, but it's due to be updated very soon.
