Im currently deciding between spending my money on airride and having a cruiser or to take the standard engine out and upgrade it all, to be honest i only want to spend around 1500 (which is enough for the airride). I've got a standard 1275 SPI engine and i know its a bit of hassle to mod these because of the ecu

just wondering how much everyones spent on upgrading their engines and what kind of performance increase they achieved?

if anything i might just give the engine a good clean up to get it back to its normal standards as im sure its lost a bit of oomph just sitting there for 2/3years

Some people spend a lot of money on up-grading gthe engine and whilst they buy all the right bits like cam, head, etc., they have a limited budget so the build quality is poor due to attempts to save cash.
The most important thing with engines is the build quality. All parts must be measured, checked, a trial build done, then final machining and final dtailed assembly.
That is the way to get a reliable, smooth and powerful engine to suit specific requirements.
Too many read 'The Comics' and then feel they must have a 1380 with a 286 cam, big-valve head, ultra-light flywheel, 1.5:1 rockers, etc., etc. Then the build quality is so poor the power is less than a well-built 1275.
