Hello all,
When I put my foot to the floor when stationary, on the clutch pedal it still seems to want to move and the biting point is only just off of the floor so i always get a crunch going into reverse and sometimes struggle with other gears, can anyone tell me what is wrong ? Thankyou

its a 1989 mini mayfair but it has a 1275 metro engine in so I'm unsure what gearbox is in the car if that makes sense as I've only had the car for about 2 months and don't know too much about it yet. hope this helps?

We only need to know whether it is Verto or pre-Verto to assist with the adjustment procedure. Verto has the slave cylinder on a steel bracket, working a short bent lever, pre-Verto has the slave directly bolted to the clutch housing, and a long lever. Once you know that, a quick glance will tell you all. The Somerford diagrams below will assist if that is not clear.

Once you tell us which type it is, someone will be along to tell you how to adjust it, which should not be difficult. I think your problem is probably hydraulics, but it is always best to try the zero cost option of adjustment first, just in case that is all it needs.

i haven't got the car available to look at right now but i believe that verto clutches came in in 1982? and i am pretty sure mine should be verto as i can't see it being pre 1982. i will try and have a look tomorrow to get a definite but for now i would say it is a verto if I'm right ? so how do i adjust this ? thankyou

Actually just had a look in the engine bay and I think it may be a pre verto clutch this is what I could see :
