had LOADS of problems with my mpi engine so swapped it out for a 1275 carb engine
the car is one of the latest mini's
and i believe the emmissions is done on engine age not car age?
Or is this an urban myth as the emissions test are worrying me :P

it is but you need to prove the age of the engine to the tester at time of the test.

They will test the car to the standard of which ever is the oldest (the car or engine). So if the engine is from say 89 (random year) and you can prove its age you should be fine. Its just proving its age which might be difficult.

hopefully try and find the original car! (just looked up the block number and its a unipart replacement)
so finding original car unlikely!
