hi all, after looking at the topic with all the snap-on tools my desire for a nice tool box is greater than ever! i'v an ok sized workshop but its being reduced with all the bench space needed to house all the tools! being a student and the fact i just work on my own stuff i really cant justify snap-on prices(as mush as i try to convince myself otherwise!!)
i was looking at tool boxes in general, empty or with tools, and then came accross http://www.pvrdirect...atref=SPTCOMBO2 and was looking for everyone's views on it?! i'v a few sealey tools and never had any problem with them at all so any input would be greatly recieved!

I've got one of these boxes. Clicky

My local tool guy wanted £1k for the same thing and I shudder to think what it would have cost for something similar from Snap-On.

i'd buy a second hand snap on roll cab and put a kitchen worktop on it. you could easily pick one up on ebay for around £500, then keep an eye out for some quality second hand tools that you need, rather than a load in a toolset that you dont really need

Good point, I rekon someone frees off all the rusty nuts and bolts and leave everything finger tight!

Personally I have a snap on roll cab and top box, all my socketry and spanners are facom, most cheap tools are made of cheese, try and get something with lifetime warranty

s i've said before on this forum, watch out with halfords lifetime warranty. my two local shops refuses to exchange broken tools without the original receipt. i had to write a letter and post an item off to their head office. hardly cost effective on a 13mm 3/8 drive sockets.

had the whole halfords "lifetime" warranty before, took an extension back and had an all out war with them before i got a new employee that mustn't have been told about me!!
i'm all for the paying for quality but i really dont know where snap on get their prices, i'v used sockets sets and spanners and other bits from them and to be honest i still cant justify the price!
the kit i posted in the first post has full lifetime warranty which is why i wonder about the price! the few sealey bits i have are as good quality as the halfords tools aswell!
any draper fans in the house??
cheers for the help lads

my dad got the halfords top and bottom chest with the buy one get one free for 300. its good quality i like it its a good way of keeping tools in order, i would prefer it to be made out of thicker metal but it hasnt broken or anything. you mentioned youve got sealey tools which get my recommendation along with silverline which i hear are quite good. me and my dad have been collecting tools since we were about 10 and buying a tool when it was needed. i find that if you go out and buy a torque wrench when you need one or a ball joint splitter and so on, means that you can afford the quality at the time then you build up the collection. you could however spend that much building your collection.

all depends but i personally would want to chose from experience the brands and tools that went into my tool box.
