Hi peeps. 91 Mayfair... Noticed my flick wipe would only work if I pushed the stalk RIGHT down really far until it feels like it's going to snap. So I took the cowling off and investigated as far as I could without removing the stalk as I thought bits would probably ping out and it would be completely broke.

Anyway, poke around inside with a screwdriver and bit of tissue and noticed there was a lot of grease and dirt inside the switch. Then had a go and saw the little metal contacts inside would just about touch and a miniscule little spark and whiff of smoke (I mean TINY) would happen when it finally made contact and engage the flick wipe.

Now it's not working at all! Apart from normal 2-speed wipers, they still work. Does it need replacing completely?

These things need replacing occasionaly...I'd simply replace it...relatively low cost.
Once you start messing with them...they tend to break...lol

Very true! Every time I try to fix something I always break at least one other thing along the way...
