Hello all,
I am looking to pick up a 1275 soon and was wondering if it is likely to be a challenge transporting it in my rover mini. I don't think it should be too hard if I remove the rear bench and front passenger seat?

put a bit of wood over the battery to avoid it getting crushed, possibly shorting out if the cardboard cover is in a bad state

Id remove the seats, as you are, and put lots of old cushions and duvets etc on the floor an put the engine on them, to cushion it from potholes etc :)

My mate bought a brand new washing machine and they guys at the shop was laughing at him because he wanted to put it in the mini,
They said he couldn't do it,
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED
He took the seat out put the washing machine in and boom!!
It fitted,
So I think you'll get the engine in :L
Just get some old sheets on it because it will be oily!

Just last night at my Local club Meet my mate told me he picked up an entire engine. He took the passenger seat out, put it on the floor and drove along holding onto it.

Id take the passanger seat out, put down some plastic dust covers (incase the engine leaks any oil or coolant) and then use ratchet straps to hold it in place (use the seat brackets as anchor points) :)

I carry my engine around every day, it fits under the bonnet nicely.

Sold a 1275 on Tuesday and the person that bought it picked it up in a mini. He just took the passengers seat out and put a couple of planks of wood over the floor. Just a quick word of wisdom...It's very difficult to get it through the door lol

you want to be very careful though hard swerving or braking or a crash and the engine will crush whatever gets in its way. i saw a you tube clip of a crash evaluation where someone had a toolbox in the boot of there saloon. in a head on crash the tool box burst the rear seats out then filled the cab with allot of very fast flying spanners. imagine the weight of a toolbox compared to a whole mini engine.

I fit a push bike in my Mini. In its box still. The corner of the box was pointing out the open window. Fun times.
