Sounds like motor problem to me. Check the brushes.... But could also be the multi-plug. Worth cleaning/spray with WD40 and refit.

Well took the multiplug off the motor and give it a good clean and some WD40
ha ha ha funny bit now, they work but wont switch off, big hammer i think@@@@@!!!!!!

If i fiddle with the wiper stalk i can get them to turn off and they park ok
but if anyone can tell me, on mine first speed is fast and second is slow
this must be the wrong way round ????????

this happened to me, wiper motor is broken, pick a new one up for £38, but if they wont stop it is most likely the park switch.

Hi it's me again thanks for all your help guy's, lets talk about my findings
first of all i did not need a new motor, think about this logicically, the motor goes round and round
the brushes and the park switch determine which phase one wipe and slow and fast
3 brushes you see, taking my motor apart and looking at the brushes i noticed that from the 3
the one in the middle has a step in the carbon, and was not moving forward when removing the armature
so after pulling it out i must have moved or broken it's stop, there is still plenty of meat left on it
there are grooves in the side to keep it in line so i put the motor back together, and bingo
it works if you require any more information PM me, or add to this thread
have a nice day

Well Firefox, now got the motor stripped and your right the middle carbon gets stuck when retracting on the spring. The plastic card that holds the carbons has worn slightly so is no longer smooth and allowing the carbon a hinder free ride to and fro.
Shall now put back together and hope I have the same luck as you. Otherwise as Haynes says "new motor required!".
Cheers for the guidance.

On the 2 speed motor the fast speed is a straight forward on/off circuit. The slow speed is effectively always on if the ignition is on, and the park switch interrupts it to turn it off. Turning the slow speed on just bypasses the park switch so if you turn them off they keep running until the park switch hits the ramp on the gear wheel that operates it. Apart from breaking the low speed circuit, the park switch also earths the motor (via that metal clip that holds it on the motor). The earthing is important because a motor can also be a generator and the induced current can keep it turning long enough to close the park switch and set it off on another lap. Gounding both sides of the motor equalises the voltage and stops it dead.

If the speeds are arse about face you may just have the spades from the motor to the park switch muddled up.

Hi Ethel, I have checked the metal spring clip on the park switch and is very tight fit. will try moving the wires, currently blue is at the end, then yellow and red at the bottom, nearest the gear shaft.

It'll only earth is the motor casing also earths. Try a circuit tester, or dab a live wire* on it to see if it sparks

*you can run one from a brown wire off the fuse box (not via the fuse).

Have now moved the wires so that red is at end yellow middle, blue nearest the gear shaft. no 2nd speed and no flick wipe but they do park.
