Take no notice of the pictures posted up, In reality anything other than a trailer queen is not rust and blemish free.

I was sort of the same at the selling stage a few times, then I did! >_<! lol. For a new modern car :ermm: I miss my orange one so much now and wish I never sold her. Although you're fed up a bit at the moment, I bet it will be really hard for you to sell her because you love her. Do some work here and there when you can, then in no time she'll be great and you will be like "no way was I considering selling her".

Edit: spelling

So true my mini looks good in photos but it has many faults - we painted it ourselves.

Thats when I start to feel better about it, it really isn't that bad, dosen't leak any oil and is pretty much reliable * touch wood* just get depressed when I wash it and see a rust bubble I didn't see before, the fact is they were there when I started using it after its 10 year garage spell but I am a bit of a perfectionist and have slight OCD when it comes to my Mini, I can't trust parking next to anyone now, I wont even take people home sometimes because it is more wear and tear on it haha!

I love it and hate it, but that is a Mini I guess?

They have their problems that's for sure, but after completing a task, repairing this, fixing that, jumping back in the mini and taking it for that drive, there's nothing greater. get it fixed and see what you feel like then

I know I would love it when it is fixed, but I really can't a afford to get the idler/drop gears sorted. I know people who have and they still rattle? it was restored about 8000 miles ago. Well I think I will fit the twins, roll cage and mini fins and see how I go from there :D

Cheers guys!

Im lucky:

My fiancées brother is a mechanic for VW and has been all his life
My good mate is a panel beater and welder by trade

However:
  • My fiancées brother is a miserbale git and unbelievably unreliable
  • and my good mate is a cracking fella and I love him but he is also the most unreliable person on the planet!

This where having a Mini is great - I can learn and fix them up myself without having to rely on other people and working round their timescales - I can do it myself.

Modern cars, yes, can be more reliable. Yes are warmer in the winter but if and when they go wrong, you'll likely end up paying a garage or someone else to do the work. Depending on what car you get, you will also lose that community wave.

Honestly - I cant imagine myself driving another type of car in the forseeable future. You'll probably regret selling your mini

all youve got to ask yourself is this... how can anything bigger be mini (taken from a window sticker ive seen on ebay) nothing else IMO will compare to your mini and its characteristics! thats the charm of owning such a car! Minis are all about breakdowns and rust bubbles! i wouldnt have mine any other way!

I'm on my 7th mini so i have been through this 6 times already, yes modern cars are good for every day like but with out a computer you just cant fix them. Would you go out and tinker with a modern car the same way you do with a mini? ok a 10 minute job takes 3 hours but knowing that you fixed it yourself without the massive bill that a modern car would of cost you makes it seem worth while.

But if you genuinely feel enoughs enough then its time to walk away completely sell everything you have (i did when selling my vw camper and to be honest i dont miss it half as much as i thought i would)
