Thanks for the great guide though I think the bracket in the first photo is the wrong way round. I have the book by Tony Cripps with the BMC Australia engineering drawings in it. The bracket is slightly different to the one currently available but shows it in cross section as per my sketch. My arrow is meant to show the bolt. I would have shown the page from the book but I’m sure that would infringe something.

Just completed adding these overriders to all four corners on my '88 Mini. This guide was very helpful, as was the video here:

I did place the angled brackets are described above by TDS76, with the widest flat facing upwards within the vertical overrider pieces. Seemed to be the best way to distribute loading into the wimpy bumper material.

I did the rears without removing the bumper off car. The front however had some clearance issues with my existing fog lighting and I did not want to move the lights inboard. So this places the overrider "nerf" (??) bar outboard end nearly directly over the bumper end bolt brackets. Had to grind out some of the bracket to allow some small amount of access to the nerf bar bolt head...and this was best done with bumper off car (only 3 wimpy screws).

All done and I must say, this mod is a really nice styling upgrade, gives the car a much more old-school appearance, quite frumpy!

Good tip is to put some tape around the end of the corner bar that goes on the bumper. Mark the threaded hole centers on both planes on the corner bars and transfer the marks to the tape on the bumper. This will give you an accurate hole location.
