hi
my mini has started occasionally cutting out when i use anything electrical cuch as indicators, heated rear screen etc.

It doesnt seem to happen all the time, but usually slowing down to a junction for example and i go to indicate the engine will cut out completly however if i turn off the indicator off and start it, it starts up again first time! this also happened when i switched on the heated rear window.
recently the indicators have stoped flashing as well they just come on solid, not sure if this is related?

also a few times if the car is idleing and you hold your foot on the brake it cuts out aswell!

anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? wiring really isnt my strong point haha

cheers

I will have an educated guess that your battery terminals are the original pot type. If so, cut them off and fit a pair of clamp type, which are easily available. That will prevent future problems in that area. I would give it a 50% chance of being the main problem.

Check also the connections at the solenoid, particularly the live feeds to various places, which are all brown, also the battery earth strap to body connection, and the engine earth strap. I know that the engine earth must be more or less ok from your description, but generally if one connection is loose, dirty or corroded, others will be too. Check also all white leads, which are fed from ignition switch. Clean up the fuse terminals etc.
