Remove the plastic retaining washer from the lugs on the radiator collar and then it's a case of gently wiggling the sensor terminals by hand. They're fairly robust but awkward to get to with the radiator in situ. The sensor is made watertight by a surrounding rubber plug which can sieze if it's been there for a while.

I must be the only one that finds it really easy to take the bottom hose off...

It's quite easy to reach from underneath?
