Wondered if any one had any ideas?
Mate of mine has a 998 block with +20 pistons and a 12g202 head on it with a 1 1/2 su and LCB exhaust with maniflow rear silencer,
Just had it apart to change the head gasket as blew between 2&3, changed all the stem seals etc and put everything back as found it, only now it won't fire on 3&4,
Tested compression and have decent compression on all four,
Changed the plugs and leads and have decent sparks on all plugs, running an electonic dizzy from a metro.. Have checked the timing, reset tappets, checked the carb over and still have no ideas?!
Any body have any suggestions?
Many thanks
Joe

Yeah, pretty sure, I've checked, checked and rechecked the leads!

if there is a spark at the plugs then it must be a massive air leak on that side of the inlet manifold............or the head gasket isn't sealed properly (i cant see it being that though)....is the servo pipe done up properly??

Servo pipe done up properly, will have to double check the carb again, although only changed the gaskets recently and was running fine prior!
Thanks

This happened to me. Check the inlet manifold as it joins to the head. Mine had a tiny crack in it and the fuel was soaking into the gasket and was not reaching 1 and 2 cylinder on mine. You won't realise its cracked untill you take it off again. I've got a pic that I'll upload in a sec.

Are you sure the valves are opening?? Could well have had a tappet stuck and you have adjusted from there?
Whip rocker cover off and spin engine over and make sure all valves open and close as expected.
From there I would check your leads are in right order and that 3&4 arent swapped over.
Are the plugs wet when you take them out of 3&4??
