As I'm driving along in 4th gear at around 40mph and I put my foot down the engine just revs and doesn't go any quicker, as if it wasn't in gear at all, if I put my foot down gently I get to around 50mph and it does the same, just revs over
The engine I have in is a 1098 with the standard gearbox
Any idea as to what it could be would be great!
Thanks guys, Matt

Have you ever had the car timed up / rolling roaded? Mine used to do this until I got it rolled :proud:

It's timed up properly, no harm in checking again though I suppose

Got no clutch slipping, picks up fine it's strange can't fathom it out

Low engine speed high load is the worst case for clutch slip.

I'm afraid that is all it can be!!

The only way the revs can increase without the car going faster in the same gear is the clutch slipping. Are you sure it's the revs increasing or just extra noise from the wider butterfly opening?

Find a steep hill drive up it and when you are driving up accelerate hard if the engine rpm increases and you dont move you know its the clutch.

Yes, can only be the clutch, and it will get worse. Best to change it now, before you end up needing a new flywheel.
