there's a fibreglass minus pickup that's got an LPG conversion that I've seen at a few shows
so it can be done then I guess a pickup has alot extra room, if a saloon had one it would be bye bye to the boot lol

A professional LPG conversion costs from around £2000, so try entering your details into this on-line LPG calculator to give you some idea how long it would take for the conversion to pay for itself.... http://www.lpgconver...ving-calculator

Yes it can be done as it should be possible to do on any petrol engine. The point is that an LPG is generally only suited to vehicles with poor fuel economy, or those that regularly cover a high number of miles. The owner is likely to see the cost of an LPG conversion returned relatively quickly, when there are large savings to be made in fuel costs. But in a small & relatively fuel efficient car like the classic mini, you would be unlikely get back the cost of the conversion in fuel savings for many years, particularly as a classic mini is also unlikely to cover a huge number of miles either.

Wow! at 40MPG it would only be 28 months to break even at todays petrol price. Worth considering for a long term project.
That may be so, but LPG is only such a cheap fuel because the government charge much less fuel duty on it to try and encourage its use. The problem is that a cash strapped government such as ours, could pull the plug on that tax subsidy at any time in order to gain more tax revenue from LPG. Meaning that if you were banking on LPG fuel cost savings to pay you back for the cost of your LPG conversion, you may never get your money back if that were to happen.

Govt thinks 'Oh we'll make diesel cheap so everyone can use it...hold on lots of people are now using it, lets tax the snot out of it to get more money'! Same thing would happen to LPG, more people use it, the more they tax it.
