You're so dirty minded.
I'm fitting my switch panel with not much luck. I've lost one of the nuts for the standard switch panel brackets, anyone know what nut size to use? I've got about 50 small nuts but none of them bloody fit *typical*.

yeah as above its going to be a UNF size,, Unified FINE, if you have taps it is possible to retap BSP (i think) which are about 2 TPI different i know my dad tapped out a load for me the other week!
minispares sell UNF pretty cheap aswell, the metric ones will be very close to fitting on but after about a thread go tight?

M5 is within an 'nth of the pitch and a tad bigger diameter. 3/16bsf is the same pitch, but it'll be tighter because it's 55 degrees tthread angle (metric & unf are 60). You stand a better chance of finding an M5 nut, but you may as well get the correct one if you buy online.

I think I have some M5, but as people have said, after a turn they go stupidly tight.
So M5 is the almost fit from a metric. What is the size/name of the bolt in Imperial? I'll nip to a machine mart or hardware store after work.

yeah ethel it is easy to retap i think it must have been BSF that my dad used, as there are only 2 tpi difference the tap will recut it to fit... obviosuly its easier to buy the correct one in the first place though
