Ok guys need some help

I have a voltmeter gauge in my MPI ... When I turn off the ignition and remove key it stays sat between 12 and 13 volts... And when I disconnect the battery the gauge drops to 0.

Does this mean there is a drain somewhere? Where should I start ? Help I'm crap with electrics

Cheers

Sounds like it's wired up wrong. It should be on the ignition circuit, rather than the permanently live. You wouldn't expect it to continue showing the battery voltage when everything is off and the key's out. Unless MPI minis are really strange!

12-13 volts from the battery with the engine off sounds fine in terms of readings. Should go up a bit with the engine running.

I suspect an electrical expert will be along soon to confirm/deny the above!

Cheers,

Rob

The gauge is wired to a permantently live circuit rather than the ignition circuit..... the gauge itself would be a small drain as it would always be active (even when engine off and key out).
