From the experience of a friend a few years ago. Cheap flights to any holiday destination means no hotel rooms there.

You can get lucky sometimes, but last minute super deals are long gone. Airlines cottoned on that peoria were waiting as late as possible to buy tickets dirt cheap for planes that had only a few passengers. Now if you book in advance you can find some real bargains. The later you leave it the more it costs. Most of the time. You an still get the odd good deal but it's a long gone trick to regular cheap flights.

The likes of EasyJet and Ryanair, while appearing to be cheap are sly and charge you 9 quid 'admin fee'. Bastards. This can go up if you use a credit card etc. it will also cost more for luggage - meaning people often take the piss and go through with quite big cases as hand luggage as they don't want to pay the extra. Soe people get really irate when they get told the bag is too big. Women taking hand bags and a case is annoying as well - one piece of hand luggage only! Many business men try it with laptop bags and cases as well. Sometimes they get lucky, sometimes they don't.

Just hire a car and drive it!
