I had a swan neck and weber on my 1000cc mini. It was a standard motor, with weber and LCB extractors and good exhaust. It was not a rocket, but it it was definately faster than my wifes completely standard 1000.

Noise - really noisy, not helped that it didnt have a filter on the carb (as it wasnt a really tight swan neck it ran up close to the standard bulkhead, and the trumptes were very close, but never touched)

Throttle response was definately better, and top speed quite a bit better.

So... yeh Swan necks arent ideal, but nothing is perfect, and they have there place on a car that isnt being built for out and out power.
