Mine used to do that untill i realised it wasnt earthed properly
Like thethe other said, check grounds, battery and alternator to make sure its charging.
Where is the ground wire normally? I've read various articles on the web and a lot of them mention the ground/earth wire being the problem. Cheers guys :)

Also check the Battery ground and leads as well. (Usually a thicker black wire next to a Red Power wire and a Blue secondary power)
If you have a multimeter (can be picked up for a cheap as $5.00 on amazon) check the voltage of the battery with the car turned off, then again running.
If there isn't a change or a drop you may want to have a look at your alternator it may need repair or have a wiring issue. If your voltage drops when your driving your head unit will shut off as well as a few other electrical based things may not work right as well.

I just installed my ICE system yesterday and discovered I needed to run a ground wire from the HU chassis to the car. Even with the regular ground wire.
really? never heard of that before.

With cover closed. I used to have it in my motorcycle fairing.

As I've seen and used many rear chassis mounts but never seen one you HAVE to use... Anyway not important but just interesting to know.

Might be worthwhile making sure your fanbelt is correctly adjusted to ensure your altenator has the best chance of producing a good charge, mine had gotten wet and was slipping causing the same symptoms as yours.
