hi this may sound stupid my car is in the body shop just had wide arches fitted and 13 by 7 allycats. the body shop has the front aches fitted as far forward as poss unto the fromt bumper. the only problem is on the drivers side when wheels are straight the tyre is quite close to rubbing the arch and on passenger side there is plenty of clearance, my mechanic reckons front subframe just wants lining up slightly or radius arm adjusting is this correct thanks

I think he means the Tie bars - but I may be wrong - radius arms are usually on the back
if the rubber bushes at the front are worn / crushed it can adjust the wheel position
as can other worn suspension components

You need to do a front to rear geometry check. Bodyshop should know how to do this. In these cases it's normally front body panel alignment rather than sub-frame or suspension issues.
Measure from fixed points on the rear sub-frame to fixed points on the front sub-frame. Do this diagonally as well. Each pair of dimensions should be within about 3/16" of each other.
