depends on the engine build
built right they can be just as reliable

you can only have two of the below

The eaton 45 is an inefficient charger, maybe with a different charger you would see better results?

Im waiting on specs of it as its a direct replacement for the eaton.
what i have herd from someone in America using it is there running 18 psi on it.......
Im waiting to hear a price on it because if its affordable Im going to use it on my Slark blow through set up

You dont want no turbo boyo, you want to get one of those electric superchargers from ebay, much better - paint your engine red too the colour of the paint is perfect for dispersing heat and also keeping the engine the right temperature so it adds atleast 5 - 10bhp mate.

Anyone else that says turbos and normal superchargers are wrong, they all rin the electric ones and just dont want you to have the power they have! Get an electric one off of ebay!!! Added 50bhp to my mini goes like **** on a shovel mate!!!

Edit: Dont listen to that james guy above, he likes boys and sells camels

the only real times you get bad reveiws from turbo engine is when someone take a old 1275 engine , sticks a different head on bolt a turbo on and then trys run a high psi through it , just wont work out right , have a look on turbo mini's there are 998's making 100bhp reliable and 1275 making higher reliable , if you want a reliable engine you have to pull the engine apart and go through all tolerances with a fine toothed comb , getting stuff balanced e.t.c once that is done then its down to setup

A little reading would serve you well. See if your local library can get you Tuning A Series Engines by David Vizard.

To make power an engine needs to suck in enough air to burn the fuel in. There are a few options to increase air consumption:

1.Improve breathing efficiency
2.Bigger engine capacity
3.Spin it faster
4.Cram it in with some form of compressor

1. Is a win/win option as it will pay off with the other three, also improves economy, and is the cheapest & easiest.
2. Starts to get expensive as you need new pistons & a rebore as a minimum, and you can only make it so much bigger before you run out of metal to cut away.
3. Is a similar story, making the bottom end survive high rpm gets expensive, and raising the rpm where the engine makes best power adds another issue in the gearing requirements. Both 2 & 3 are restricted by how successful you are with 1.

4. Avoids all those limitations to a reasonable degree, but can be at least as expensive. The A Series isn't the best breather so it responds well to blowing.

A Turbo on a Mini ? What a waste of time, I've never heard such nonsense ! ;D
