Do what i did, get an electric fan out of a metro and attach it to the outside of the rad, wire it up to a manual switch so that it sucks instead of blow, and it will keep it cool... And if your feelin brave, then cut the inner wings out, better air flow round the engine means it will be cooler, worked for me...

I had mine on the outside of the inner wing at first, wich worked well. When i cut the front off, I attached it to the rad, it worked even better then!

If you get a removable bonnet, lift it up at the back

that im going to try and do it get a fan to try and fit it to the out side of rad between the inner wing and the rad, hopefully it will fit, and if it works that well it will be great...

hey
sumone told me dat the electric fan on a mk1 astra ia a gud idea, its more like a kit compaired to jus a fan unit, coming with all the parts needed to complete.
I have a front mounted rad on my clubman, i only have one fan on it and its infront of the rad (jus behind the grill, but the bloody thing is constantly overheating. Ive found a new rad off an LDV 2.0 van at work that looks alot like mine (4 core and only £25!!!)
so im gunna put that on, but am i better off haveing 2 fans and having one infront of the rad and one behind sucking???
cheers all

Tweety...

If your gonna go with the 2 fans, I'd go with them both on the inside suckin, drawin the cold outside air through the rad, instead of blowin it against it (probly find alot of the cold air just bounces off).

yeah, sucking in is a better idea, and to make best use of it, make a few small vents at the back of the bonnet. either that or raise it up a bit like i said. Otherwise it won't suck in nearly as efficiently as it'll be creating too high a pressure inside the engine compartment.. A vent will relieve this pressure and allow air to flow through over the engine

Defo mate, stops the oil gettin too thin and wreckin your engine, specialy on motorways and when your drivin it hard...

Go to your local hydrollics suplier and get some hoses made up, they are not expensive.
