Keep It Or Swap/sell It?

I'm finding that I never get to use the convertible roof (British summer!) and the SPi system is rather complicated for a home mechanic. However it is a great Mini, little to no rust, pretty reliable, nice interior and exterior and the few times it is sunny it's nice to pull off the roof.
Thoughts?

Been debating about selling my Mini and getting a different one. I'd like a older one with a carb, centre speedo and 10" wheels. A minor project would be great, as it would give me something to do over the winter.

That's exactly what I did with my old one, sold it for my current 73' with a centre speedo and 10's

Took a bit longer to find and being an older car would need considerable work to be completed. So you can either convert your current mini knowing all its little faults etc or run the risk with an older one. I've never liked the spi or mpi engine versions even though they are good I prefer the classic look, and I find them easier to work on. But convert yours might cost a few hundred but an older one might cost you more. Just my opinion.

You could easily loose all of this. However it is a great Mini, little to no rust, pretty reliable, nice interior and exterior and the few times it is sunny it's nice to pull off the roof.

The rules as I know them at the moment are the emissions test is based on the older of either the car or the engine, so if you have an SPi car and what is documented as an SPi engine, you'd have to conform to the usual test for an SPi. I wouldn't fancy that on a carb engine. Think I'd rather sell it and get a genuinely old, centre speedo, carb'd Mini. Wouldn't let 10" wheels bother me as unless it already has them, I'd swap the brakes for 7.5" discs + 10" wheels anyway. So that would give a choice of Minis up to 1984? (I'm getting rusty on my Mini knowledge).

After this summer selling a convertible isnt really an option ....

Maybe next week will be the time to sell it if you going to. I've heard that we are supposed to be getting hot weather at last.

Will be the one and only week we'll have!
What a surprise that I'm going to be away in Turkey by Friday

Unlucky! I just hope it stays sunny and warm for Tatton Park in August.
