I have found an electronic ignition kit on eBay which appears to be identical to the Aldon kit.

Obviously coming from eBay and at nearly half the price my question is will it be as good?

http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_4880wt_1108

Has anyone used this kit before?

Are there any cheaper alternatives to the Aldon kit that you would recommend? I have been told the land rover electronic ignition is the same?

Thanks

I've got one of these dizzy from SimonBBC. Its whole new dizzy, coil, leads etc, but with that electronic module in it. Works great.

They do have a web site too and you can order over the phone, so its not a complete ebay only operation. For peace of mind etc.

Great, it's only going on a standard 998. For that price I'm thinking it has to be worth giving it a go!

I've got the accuspark version, but similarly priced. Best modification to a mini IMO

It replace's the point's, as the point's wear out which make's the timing off, so the electronic ignition the timing does not need to be recalibrated.

And, a good electronic system will put more energy into the spark, so you get better combustion, which means some combination of better economy, better performance, or smoother running, depending on how the engine is tuned and how you drive. Maybe you can get more useful life from the spark plugs too.

I reckon you'll only notice a difference if your points or related components are shot or badly adjusted.

I've fitted 4 kits on different minis mainly for the fit and forget aspect...no adjusting or replacing.. Can't say noticed any performance boost.
