Will be tackling the replacement of the snapped front subbie on Red ('93 spi) shortly and will change out the mounts at the same time. Opinions on rubber mounts (as per original) vs. the replacement solid ones, please. I've not ordered yet.

Cheers, folks.

Rubber will transmit less noise to the inside of the car but will rob you of feel from the front end especially under steering.

Solid will give you a better feel while turning but will make the inside if the car slightly louder.

In my opinion polly mounts have no place on the front subframe. Any subframe mount you can bend in half with two fingers shouldn't even be allowed on a car.

If you're going to go solid adding extra strength to the toe board area would be a good idea!

Yes, soild plus strengthening plates around the toeaboard mounts is best. The poly mounts which are currently available are very badly engineered and structurally unsatisfactory. Rubber mounts fail frequently, usually the toeboard mounts de-bond, although sometimes the metal fractures, and then the front of the car starts cracking up, often in the inner wings just ahead of the subframe towers.

Never mix different types of mount, or again there will be fatigue cracking.

Thanks folks. Any suggestions as to how to go about strengthening that toe board?
