just to let you guys over in the uk know about project 64 at bonneville

few guys from nelson ,New zealand

going to break the 1000cc class record

engine is a 1000cc A+ block with 16 valve k1100 head . then a turbo wacked on it

power : ‎282hp at flywheel, 310hp on methanol hehe sounds fun

some info as of today

Today we qualified for a record run after averaging 142.103mph on mile 2 of course 3. We're now in the impound. In the morning after 7am we'll have another run. If we break the record again on the same section of track we will be the new re...
cord holders. The previous record is around 131mph and is held by "The Hudson Boys" who are parked in the impound next to us (they're running in another class this year). The car is looking good with no signs of the reliability issues we were dealing with now the motor's plumbing has been redesigned and rebuilt.See More

This reminds me of Burt Munro, but now you guys in a mini. You should def make a film about it. Also just wondering if you have any more pictures of your car and engine, you can either post here or a website??

Good Luck :-)

Love to see people take engines to such a state of tune! So awsome! Huge respect! Good luck:)

But how long do you recon that engine would last?? Like a go cart engine that can only last 45 mins? :P

I have just seen the stats on the back to back run, with a speed of just over 151mph, that is truely impressive. Well done!

I am still amazed at how 300 BHP can be found from a 998! in production cars 100bhp per litre is a good ball park to aim at for a fast car

300 bhp per litre is mad and especially from a 60+ year old block design!

Cool photos, thanks for sharing them all. I would've thought that you'd want the HT leads as short as possible for bestest spark. But heybit must work! That is insane!

I like the look of the jag in that workshop too.

It's so cool that they got the record. That's a scary speed to be doing in Mini, I wonder what their final drive ratio is?
