do we have enough numbers as to have a Motorsport section then? if yes, when will it be operative?

What happened too this? Still think it'd be great to have a Motorsport section on TMF, and this thread is evidence that I'm not the only one!

We hadn't forgotten, honest
What would be good is some intros to get us going: an outline of a particular race series, contact details for regulating body, licencing and other requirements, car regulations etc. Most could be done with a few web links I'm sure, but if someone can flesh them out, with the benefit of their own experience, to make it more readable that'd help.
If you can help with that we may as well start in this topic, it can be moved later no problems. Just post a reply to claim your particular flavour of Mini racing & save others duplicating your work then set to it
If someone's already claimed your sport you can always pm them and make it a team effort.

A good website to get you started in all Motorsport, it includes a search tool for your local club.
As in general Mini ownership your local club should be the best port of call.
Personal advice is always best and experienced members and crews are ALWAYS a welcoming bunch. Use their club forums to introduce yourself and attend one of their meetings. Get to know the others and get involved with your club events; Marshaling is a good starting point, marshals are always needed and play a main role in motorsport... if there were no marshals it couldn't happen!!! Marshaling is the best way of learning what each event is all about and get close to the action.
And when you're ready send your first entry in...

Well you can help us out with with a quick intro: just a few details about what's involved in getting started with a web link or two and ideally 1 or 2 piccies for impact.
Pretty please (the same appeal is open to other Mini racers)

Ta muchly, I think a little paragraph from a personal perspective about the commitment in costs, time etc would help to encourage those thinking of taking a closer look - a bit like a job advert, or a financial services one before the Meerkats got involved

I think starting the section and going from there will be the best way...
It will look rather empty to begin with but if we post all the events TMFers do with a link to results, photo galleries and a short write-up it should start getting busier in no long time... Posts would include events attended as competitor, marshal or even spectating.
Rather than having lots of different sections at the beginning make all the thread titles to include the type of event e.g. [Road Rally]Name of Event or [Racing]Event unless it's a question or anything that applies to the different modalities.
A sticky on top with links to the most important websites like the ones that have been already posted will do and then a mod can include new ones or edit it.
the sooner the better!! can we have at least a trial period?

We have been discussing this in the staff area, afraid as we all have proper jobs 'n stuff, it takes a while for everyone to contribute to the discussion. In the meantime there's nothing to stop you starting a topic (in Mini chat or events?) and posting a link to it this topic.
It certainly looks like a goer, the topic on Rally tyres showed there are enough prospective users I reckon.

So who's already competing, and in what events? - Sevens, Miglias, Rally, Grass Track etc.
You could also let us know if you are more than casually involved - a marshal, a regular spectator of a particular series...
Who's going to start the list then?
Mighty Mini
1. charliebudd
2. leroy26
3. icklemini (mechanic)
Sevens
1. icklemini (mechanic)
Miglia
1. icklemini (mechanic)
2. MIGLIACARS (Metro Circuit Car)
Grass Track
1.DugganC17 (2 autograss minis, marshall and the odd help on the start line)
Rally
1. Tahiti Joe
2. minispaniard
3. minisi35
4. C4NNON
5. Rally1380
6. Rob Jones
Ministox
1. pmplovesminis
2. J666ERA
...add a heading if your flavour of racing isn't listed
more known as autograss than grasss track
